For TBT 2022, the Xavier Regional stands as one of the most intriguing and competitive sections of the tournament bracket. Eight teams vie for a spot in the final four. Interestingly, the Zip ‘Em Up team, made up of Xavier alumni, stands as one of the few regional hosts that isn’t listed as a 1-seed. Defeat Diabetes gets their first TBT action in the Xavier Regional against Sideline Cancer.
Florida TNT is the 1-seed, followed by Sideline Cancer (2), and Zip ‘Em Up (3). Nasty Nati (4), Fort Wayne Champs (5), Sweet Home Alabama (6), Defeat Diabetes (7) and Team AboutBillions (8) round out the field for the Xavier Regional.

Xavier Regional TBT Top Seeds
The 1-seed, Florida TNT, put themselves on the map as a team to beat in TBT 2021. With a veteran-led squad and a chip on their shoulder for falling short last year, the guys from the Sunshine State will be looking to finish the job in 2022. Their record in TBT play all-time stands at 5-2. Florida TNT features former NBA players Antonio Blakeney and Dominique Jones.
A TBT original, Sideline Cancer is the only team to play in each TBT since its founding in 2014. Playing on behalf of the Griffith Family Foundation and with the mission to bring awareness to and raise money for pancreatic cancer research, Sideline Cancer reached TBT’s Championship Game in 2020 and seeks to finally bring home the $1M grand prize in 2022.
3-seed Zip ‘Em Up’s combination of a rabid fan base and exciting style of play in 2021 earned them the label of TBT’s most exciting debutants last summer. They’ll return the guard trio of J.P. Macura, Trevon Bluiett, and Mark Lyons, giving Xavier fans an exciting three-headed monster to cheer on at the Cintas Center this summer.
It wouldn’t be right to have a regional in Cincinnati without a University of Cincinnati alumni team. Former Cincy guard Kevin Johnson assembles an all-star group of Bearcats in their first year playing as Nasty Nati. This includes former first-round pick Jacob Evans, Octavius Ellis, Jarron Cumberland, and many more. With the talent on this team and Zip ‘Em Up in their sights, we may see our first TBT Crosstown Classic this summer.
Xavier Regional TBT Lower Seeds
One of TBT’s oldest teams, Fort Wayne Champs returns in TBT 2022 to try and reclaim their spot amongst the field’s best teams. Fort Wayne comes with a 10-6 record all-time in TBT play. Bethel University standout TreVion Crews is among the ten players. In addition, former Ball State standout Tayler Persons and ex-Mad Ants forward Stephan Hicks are also on the roster.
Another new team in the TBT 2022 field is Sweet Home Alabama. They’re bringing together some of the best ballers from the state of Alabama to compete. Alabama fans will recognize many players on the inaugural team from the Yellowhammer State. This includes most notably Mikhail Torrance, Justin Knox and Justin Tubbs.
A first-year TBT applicant, Defeat Diabetes is hoping to play to benefit those with Type 1 Diabetes. They’re led by former NBA baller Gary Forbes and former UNF star Jalen Nesbitt. Forbes is one of three players in NBA history to compete with living with Type-1 Diabetes.
The 8-seed in the Xavier Regional at TBT 2022 is a second-year applicant, Team About Billions. The squad comes to TBT to represent famous boxer Adrien Broner‘s “About Billions” brand.
