Team Defeat Diabetes stands as one of the first-year teams joining TBT in 2022. Playing for those living with Type-1 Diabetes, this team finds itself placed in the Xavier Regional for the tournament. One of the top three-point shooters on this TBT team is Brevin Pritzl.
In its first year at TBT, Defeat Diabetes hopes to benefit those individuals living with Type-1 diabetes. The squad is sponsored by the JDRF, formerly known as by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and will donate a portion of their winnings to the foundation.
Welcome Brevin Pritzl to team Defeat Diabetes for the 2022 TBT!
Brevin Priztl joins Defeat Diabetes’s roster for their first appearance in TBT. The 26-year-old began starred collegiately at Wisconsin played from 2015-20.
During the 2017-18 season, Pritzl registered his best season with the Badgers. That season, he averaged 8.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists in 21 starts across 32 games. The De Pere, Wisconsin native led the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage during conference play (53.5 percent) in the 2018-19 season. As a senior, Pritzl helped the Badgers finish tied atop the Big Ten standings by season’s end.
Following a solid collegiate career, Pritzl moved on to play professionally in Europe. In 2020, he joined Tamiš of the Basketball League of Serbia and went on to average over 13 points-per-game on 50 percent shooting from the field. That season, Pritzl dropped a career-high 42 points against Dynamic in an overtime victory.
In addition to his experience in Serbia, Pritzl played with Team FOG Naestved from Denmark to play in the Danish basketball league, Basketligaen. There, he averaged 16.6 points-per-game and netted 43.5 percent from three. Priztl earned all-league third-team honors for his play in Denmark. For the 2022-23 season, Pritzl signed to play for the Leuven Bears in Belgium.

The Basketball Tournament, known by many these days as TBT, stands as one of the more popular forms of summer basketball for fans to enjoy. The tournament hosts 64 teams playing in a single-elimination bracket for a winner-take-all $1 million prize. The teams are made up largely of professional and former college stars. Some represent their former schools while others play on sponsored teams, like team Defeat Diabetes.
